These guys are really a lifesaver when it comes to data recovery. Had a thumb drive loaded with years worth of creative work (writing) for a screenplay idea I''ve been working on. The drive finally took a dump, sustaining considerable damage and corruption. After getting quote ranges that went as high as $8000, I was blessed with finding this company in Ohio. I spoke with Kyle, one of their representatives about my situation, who made it fairly easy to get my media to them (free shipping.) They analyzed it and determined it had suffered roughly mid level amounts of damage and thus was confident they could retrieve the data. They offer three plan levels of recovery depending on your urgency in needing the data. I chose the standard plan for budgetary reasons, which gives a turnaround time of 5 to 9 days to complete the recovery. My final estimate was dead on accurate as the final cost, nearly $1200.Yes, I realize that is still no small amount of change in today''s economy I opted to have my data transferred to a new thumb drive, which added return shipping and the cost of the new drive to my tab. This added $80 to my tab, while the default method of returning your recovered data is to download it to a cloud hosting service. (With something like this, I''d rather have it physically with me.) All in all, they were able to save some 11,820 files of text, out of 11,823! That was a real blessing... a loss of close to 3/100ths of one percent of the data. In other words, they recovered 99.997% of everything off the old drive, and for thousands less than the lowest range price the other company in California I had got estimates for.Data recovery isn''t cheap because it isn''t easy. It involves micro surgery on your old dead unit to hopefully get it working so that they can pull the data off of it. This is a very painstaking process, and is NOT something that can be done at home. Save your money from the online software companies promising to retrieveyour lost data. These are only good if your drive still functions. They never seem to make that stipulation clear in their advertisements! Could''ve saved a few bucks and just sent it in earlier. Secure Data Recovery get''s 5 stars from me, and will be the one to call should I need such services again. (Although, with me backing up my back ups, that may be a long way off now. Learned my lesson, USB drives have tiny micro moving parts. They do wear out! Be forewarned. Back up your back ups, cheap insurance. Or you''ll be needing the experts to handle it!
