All in all, they were able to save some 11,820 files of text, out of 11,823! That was a real blessing... a loss of close to 3/100ths of one percent of the data. In other words, they recovered 99.997% of everything off the old drive, and for thousands less than the lowest range price the other company in California I had got estimates for.Data recovery isn''t cheap because it isn''t easy. It involves micro surgery on your old dead unit to hopefully get it working so that they can pull the data off of it. This is a very painstaking process, and is NOT something that can be done at home. Save your money from the online software companies promising to retrieveyour lost data. These are only good if your drive still functions. They never seem to make that stipulation clear in their advertisements! Could''ve saved a few bucks and just sent it in earlier. Learned my lesson, USB drives have tiny micro moving parts. They do wear out! Be forewarned. Back up your back ups, cheap insurance. Or you''ll be needing the experts to handle it!
